South Inlet Transportation Improvement Project

Atlantic City, Atlantic County, NJ

Provided transportation and construction design services for the CRDA’s South Inlet Transportation Improvement Project, associated with the construction of the $2.4 billion Revel Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Revel will consist of 4,000 hotel rooms; approximately 175,000 SF of casino gaming space; and 330,000 SF of mixed retail/restaurant entertainment space. In order to accommodate the projected traffic generated by Revel, extensive off-site roadway and infrastructure improvements were necessary. Connecticut Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue were widened significantly and converted to one-way conditions in areas.

Our services included roadway construction plans, traffic analysis and modeling, drainage improvements, signing and striping plans, overhead sign structure design, a large utility relocation effort, underground electrical utility design, maintenance and protection of traffic and detour plans, 13 traffic signal designs, ADA compliance,  regional wayfinding and guide sign modifications, bid document preparation, and construction administration services. The design team worked closely with client’s landscape architects to ensure the design was compatible with the large streetscape effort that involved a landscaped boulevard road design, curb bulb-outs, decorative paving, pedestrian lighting and landscaping.
