Important Changes to NY’s Energy Interconnection Requirements & Distributed Generation (DG) Application Process

The following is a summary of recent changes to the New York State Standard Interconnection Requirements (SIR) and Distributed Generation (DG) Application Process for interconnection projects of less than 5 MW. DG projects include solar/photovoltaic, wind, hydro, micro turbines, fuel cells, and anaerobic digesters/biogas. Since the interconnection process alone can take nearly a year, it is essential to have a full comprehension of the entire project scope so you can successfully plan your DG project.
