Provided land survey services in support of aerial LiDAR collection by establishing ground control points and limited conventional ground survey on key elements (including culverts, headwalls, buildings, other track equipment, overpass retaining walls, and piers) at Richmond’s CSX ACCA Rail Yard. The survey was performed as part of a $132 million reconfiguration of the yard, which is CSX’s largest yard in Virginia and suffers from frequent bottlenecks, due to the volume of traffic passing through it.
The topographic survey was conducted along two miles of densely wooded terrain along the existing railroad right-of-way. Jacobs also requested track geometry to be located using the Amberg system. Our professionals are also currently working on-call for various stake-out requests during the ongoing construction.
