Provided comprehensive engineering and consulting services for a new junior soccer field and a new 7,500 SF labyrinth garden at the Philadelphia Montessori Charter School. The project site previously housed a playground, and the improvements involved depaving the site and installing a labyrinth garden, including an herb spiral, raised planter beds, mulch path, gazing bench, and a solar tree to provide power for future irrigation.
Our services included soil sampling to evaluate whether the soil within which the landscape features were to be planted met the “clean fill” concentration limits. We then prepared a demolition plan and full site plans, including a Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. These plans included preparation of the documents necessary for the Philadelphia Water Department Greened Acre Retrofit Program (GARP), an innovative program that rewards local businesses financially for retrofitting their properties to divert stormwater out of the City’s waste water treatment system.
